About this painting

In my “Eastbound” series, I used Tobi as the model. The Eastbound series depicts the profound feelings of promise and threat of pursuing our dreams and our journeys… The journeys of the Ugly Duckling. (If you haven't already, you might enjoy reading my Ugly Duckling stories in my blog)

Who is Tobi?

Tobi was our beloved House Sparrow pet we had for over eleven years.

We adopted her since she was a few days old from the nest where she watched. There was a neighbor’s cat who was attacking the birds' nests in our area, and Tobi was the only survivor.

Tobi is Japanese for “flight.” She learned to fly very well inside our house when she was very young… and she earned her name. She was a great flier, but she never desired to fly out of our house. She also hated being in a case, so she was free-range at home.

We spent our lives together... Tobi became an allegory in my paintings.

I want to share her love and spirit with you through my art.

About Giclée prints

These Giclée prints on Fine Art Paper are available framed or unframed. My Giclée prints are printed by my fine art reproduction company who specializes in high quality printing with archival ink.

I sign each print. I recommend the framed version... It's a black, simple wood Gallery style frame (3/4" wide, 5/8" deep) without a mat.
